Suhyla Behiry (SFS'24) is pursuing a master’s degree in Arab studies in the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University. She graduated magna cum laude from New York University in 2022 where she designed an interdisciplinary major, bringing an understanding of political science, international relations, history, religious studies, and sociology to the study of the Middle East. Suhyla was a member of the Gallatin Dean’s Honors Society, the University-wide Leadership Honors Cohort, and served on the executive board of Aftab, a magazine that documents the Muslim-American experience through literature and art. At Georgetown, Suhyla is conducting research on the relationship between exile and political beliefs. Suhyla currently serves as the president of the Graduate Muslim Students Association and formerly served as the vice president of the Middle East and North Africa Forum, where she organized student visits to various embassies to facilitate greater academic and professional engagement with the region. Suhyla is a member of the Human Fraternity Fellows Program 2023-2024 cohort.
